Before coming to my new home, I stayed with my parents and brothers and sisters. My new family picked me up when I was six weeks old. They drove a long way in their car. I was scared. On arriving at my new home, I didn't understand what the rules were. I didn't know where my food or water was or where I was supposed to sleep. Most of the time I lay down at my owners feet.
Visitors arrived the first afternoon. They brought a little puppy called 'Mia'. Mia was very pushy and wanted to play with me. I was too scared and kept running away from Mia. My new owners took lots of photos of me that first day. I have some to show you of Mia and me when we were first introduced. Just look in the photos tab.
After the visitors left with Mia, I was given some yummy chicken pieces. I ate till I was full to bursting, and then I curled up and went to sleep.
After about an hour I woke up. I had to go to the toilet. But I was still drowsy and couldn't remember where I was supposed to go. In the end, I couldn't wait any longer and did it on the kitchen floor. My new owners weren't too happy with me and while 'Mum' cleaned up my mess, my new 'Dad' carried me downstairs and explained to me that I had to tell them when I needed to go and then they would open the door and let me outside. The problem was I now lived in a very high house with a lot of steps. I remember thinking, as my new Dad explained this to me - that there was no way I would be able to go down the stairs. I was very worried about this, but my Dad must've picked up on my worry, because he explained to me that if I 'told' them by crying, barking or whingeing, that I needed to go - either him or my Mum would carry me downstairs so I could go. I thought this was a great idea. I loved being carried up and down the stairs. I played on this quite a lot. Please don't tell Mum or Dad, but sometimes I would pretend I needed to go to the toilet, just so they would carry me up and down the stairs.
